The reprieve in Deathly Hallows...

In an interview with the Today Show, JK Rowling revealed who the character is that received a reprieve in Deathly Hallows.

"" ARTHUR WEASLEY "" (highlight betweeen the quotes to know..)

Additionally, Jo announced that she "probably will" create a Harry Potter encyclopedia! From NBC's website:

The encyclopedia would include back stories of characters she has already written but had to cut for the sake of narrative arc (“I've said before that Dean Thomas had a much more interesting history than ever appeared in the books”), as well as details about the characters who survive “Deathly Hallows,” characters who continue to live on in Rowling’s mind in a clearly defined magical world.

JKR interview at midnight.

JK Rowling's had loads to do in the run up to the release of the final book in the Harry Potter series.

She admitted on her website that she was feeling nervous about the launch, but just moments before she gave a moonlight reading in London, she took time out for a quick chat with Newsround's Lizo.

It's been an incredible 10-year journey. What's it like reaching the end of all of this?
JK: I can't tell you. I've never been so excited about a launch. I'm really emotional as well. I could cry. I'm very happy tonight; this is my favourite book of the series, so that is the best way to end this. Whether people like it or not, I really like it. As a writer, when you strip it all back, that's what it's about.

How does tonight compare to some of the other highlights of the last 10 years of Harry Potter?
JK: Tonight has got to be up there. It's going to be one of my eternal memories of the whole thing. Today's really been a day to look back and remember how it used to be. I've had many conversations with people like my American editor in New York. We've just been reminiscing about what it's been like over the past 10 years.

We've had a week full of people leaking things that they say are spoilers and the incredible secrecy that's built up around it.
JK: I think the two things feed off each other. We tried to protect the stories so that children particularly could reach them and enjoy the pleasure of reading the book. Therefore, inevitably, there are people who want to try and break the embargo.
You become locked into this horrible situation. I'm so grateful that nearly everyone kept to the embargo coz I've just sat in the middle of all these children and they're all saying "what happens, what happens?" and they don't know. That's miraculous really!

When will we be hearing from you again?
JK: Well, I'm sure you will hear from me again but at the moment I'm saying, and I mean it, I really would like to take a break for a while and I think I probably need to because this has been so massive. I probably need not to do it for a while and get some perspective back into life.

Door on JKRowling.com opens!

Jo's desk reveals a letter of acknowledgments from the Harry Potter author. She also includes a note to fans:
Within hours you will know what happens to Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest in their final adventure. All the secrets I have been carrying around for so long will be yours, too, and those who guessed correctly will be vindicated, and those who guessed wrongly will not, I hope, be too disappointed! As for me, I feel a heady mixture of excitement, nerves and relief. 'Deathly Hallows' remains my favourite of the series, even after several re-reads; I cannot wait to share it with the readers who have stuck with me through six previous books.

Beware of spoilers!

Now that we're just five days from the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, plot spoilers that actually look legitimate are starting to leak online. For some people, it's been a ten-year wait for Book 7, and that could be so easily destroyed if we find out what will happen too early. Therefore, be warned!

July22: It was the real book!! How rude! :x

A NEW COVER! Deluxe US 'Deathly Hallows' cover art!

Scholastic has released the cover art for the deluxe edition of the American Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:

Unbelievable!!

David Saylor, Vice President, Creative Director, Scholastic described the art: "Set during a highly dramatic sunset, Harry, Hermione, and Ron--clothes in tatters--cling atop a flying dragon in this astonishing artwork created by Mary GrandPré for the deluxe edition. As mist creeps down towering hillsides to a village below, questions arise about where the trio is headed and what has led them to this spellbinding moment."

The Relics of Death: JKR's second title!

Swedish Deathly Hallows translation may give clues

Tilden, the Swedish Potter publisher, has revealed on their official website that JK Rowling has provided an alternative DH title to foreign countries: Harry Potter and the Relics of Death.

The second title was released by Jo and Bloomsbury because the phrase "Deathly Hallows" is hard to translate without being able to read the novel.

Relics of Death can easily translate to dödsrelikerna, and now many are speculating over exactly what these relics are.

No spoilers policy!!

Jo has updated her website with a new diary entry which reinforces a recent editorial made on Leaky about spoiling Deathly Hallows for the fans. From Jo:
There will always be sad individuals who get their kicks from ruining other people's fun, but while sites like Leaky take such an active stance against them, we may yet win. Even if the biggest secret gets out - even if somebody discovers the Giant Squid is actually the world's largest Animagus, which rises from the lake at the eleventh hour, transforms into Godric Gryffindor and... well, I wouldn't like to spoil it.

Although thats what all HP sleuths are doing at the moment, I doubt if anyone has got it right!

Security for HP 7

The British Harry Potter publisher has revealed some of their security measures to ensure the magic of Deathly Hallows is maintained until July 21st. According to The Scotsman, the book will only be delivered to bookshops one day before the release and they will be sealed in crates bound by steel chains.

Furthermore, security guards will be deployed to printing plants, and Amazon has agreed to store its copies in warehouses at secret locations.

Third longest!

Scholastic previously announced that the US edition of Deathly Hallows would be 784 pages long, leading fans to believe it is the second longest book in the series (behind OOTP's 870, and ahead of GOF's 734).

However, on Tuesday, Bloomsbury revealed that their edition of Book 7 would contain 608 pages, making it the third longest book (behind OOTP's 766, and GOF's 636).Even though the US editions have always comprised more pages than the UK ones because they use a larger typeset as well as chapter images, there is still a discrepancy between the numbers noted above. So either Scholastic has increased their typeset or Bloomsbury has decreased theirs.
